As mentioned in the introduction, this week's topic is SEO. I'll share with you what we've learned by analyzing our competitors' strategies and talking to experts in the field, such as the SEO agency SEOSecret.

The first thing to consider is that your Web3 product website must follow good SEO practices to facilitate efficient indexing. Here are my learnings👇

Tell search engines that your website needs to be indexed

To do this you need to add specific tags on your website and its different pages. Take into account that some pages do not need to be indexed. For example, this is the case of a non-public profile page on Mobula.

Add the right meta-tags, and create SEO-friendly pages

Make sure to add meta-title & descriptions as meta-tag on your pages. This must be added rigorously. You can take inspiration from your competitors and place yourself on new types of searches with SEO tools like SemRush. You should also make your pages SEO friendly with H1, H2, title, etc.

Do not hesitate to include (a lot of) text on your pages.

To understand this point, you must understand the logic of search engines. Search engines highlight sites that retain users because it is their ultimate interest that users stay connected as long as possible. Search engines like Google will therefore tend to put forward sites & pages with high added value, which retain their visitors.

For this, you should not hesitate to add text to increase the average session length of your users. The idea is not to put random text just to put text because if it is boring, visitors will leave, and it will harm your site. You need to put text intelligently so that your users stay on your page longer, which sends a good signal about your page to Google.

For example, our competitors CoinMarketCap or CoinGecko often add paragraphs of text that share previously mentioned information but contextualize it as a paragraph sentence. It allows less familiar users to have their questions clearly explained, thus keeping them on the page longer.

Knowing this, your priority should not be: How to be first on Google
but rather: How to make people stay the longest on my site

Create dynamic SEO pages

With a Web3 product, you can have a lot of value-added information through your different features. For example, in Mobula, we have a lot of value-added information about the crypto-assets listed in the ecosystem. This high-value-added information, such as the smart contract, the social networks, or the audits of a precise crypto-asset, can be subject to individual queries on search engines.

For this, we can create dynamic pages on each value-added feature on the site to attract traffic from people looking for a particular feature.

For example, with Mobula, we can have the conversion rate between 2 assets in real-time. So we decided to create dynamic SEO pages dedicated to this topic. We will create a large series of pages that will display the details of the conversion of two assets listed on the platform.

We are currently working on the wireframe. Here is an overview:

Another example, each crypto asset listed on Mobula contains its smart contract address(es). We have therefore decided to generate dynamic pages for each new asset referenced on Mobula that will contain the list of smart contracts.

Create satellite websites

A strong and very useful SEO strategy is to create an external site that will capture a lot of traffic (as it will be created from scratch to comply with all the search engine rules to rank very well) and redirect the traffic to your Web3 product site. We call this a satellite site.

A satellite site is a secondary site designed to support the main company site and is a widely used tool by website promoters. It can be a media site, a marketplace, a data aggregator, etc.

These sites are a great strength for Web3 products because they allow synergies between different sites, reinforcing the power of the SEO strategy.
